Marking my transition away from painting still lifes, this piece was my response to the theme of “circles” for a 2009 group show. It honors the circle of motherhood, and nurturing protection of nature.
Taken in a broader context, it can also symbolize the very human need to care for oneself with the same gentle tenderness as a mother does for her child.
